Or maybe because they have an assload of money too spend in an era where the rest of the league wasn't that good.

There are owners with more money than George Steinbrenner, the difference is George wants to win and other owners want to pocket the profits.  The owner of the Mariners has more money, but they don't sign good players.  People criticize the Yankees and make it seem like they are the richest team in baseball... they aren't, they just want to win more than anyone else.

When I was suffering through the 80's and the Yankees were finishing 3rd, 4th and last, nobody was complaining about George spending money on players.  When they win, it's all you hear about.  It's ok though, as long as they win, I'll be happy.

btw, the Mets spent an assload of money this year and nobody complained.  Last time I checked, they took over the last place spot.

The last time I checked the Red Sox was still in first place. Let us not forget that last year those fantastic Yankees also pulled the biggest choke job in the history of sports.

I KNEW IT!!!  I knew you were a Sox fan!  jammor, you are now my sworn enemy! .  It all makes sense now.  You hate puppies and you clip your toenails in the dugout.

It's true, the Yankees choked worse than any team in baseball history last year.  They had game 4 and the series won, then Rivera walked the first batter in the 9th and threw a perfect double play ball into center field and the rest is history.  I also admit that the Yankees probably won't win this year either.

Having said that, you guys have cried so much over the years, you've become the Kleenex capitol of the world.  Just think, if you win the World Series every year for the next 21 straight years, you'll catch up

Down the road unless the Yanks go on an Atlanta Braves type tear, they'll become worse and worse. They seem too get all these old players who aren't exactly gonna be throwin heat down the road. Sheffield and his grubbly ass isn't gonna be staying there too long.

And last I checked Jeter, Williams, and Posada weren't exactly carrying the team.

BTW, the Mets situation is unexplainable. It's seems too be the place where careers go too die. Mike Cameron was never that great a player but did more than his fair share too keep a team in it. And Beltran is just pitiful. He's totally lost his swing.

The farm system is depleted.  George did the same exact thing in the 80's.  The Yankees built the last dynasty when George was suspended.  I might add that they did it mainly through the farm system, not through free agentcy.  Right now they have absolutely nothing in the miner leagues.  I agree that the run is over and will be for a long time.

That still doesn't take away from the fact that they are FAAAAANTASTIC!

Well jammor, at least we didn't get swept.  Please, refresh my memory... what team in the AL got swept by the White Sox? I can't remember

(Damn Angels!

A loss in the post season is a loss whether your swept or go the distance.

I can't understand why everybody is blaming A-Rod for the loss. He should have played better but, there was others on the Yankees who stunk it up also.

A-Rod is the one who was MVP calibur and getting paid an assload of money tho, so of course you have too attack him.

I don't blame A-Rod for the loss.  He's always choked with runners in scoring position when the game really counts.  I've listened to them all year.  He gets his stats when it's least needed.  He did it in Seattle and he's doing it in New York.  I expected it.

I blame Stienbrenner for returning to his old ways.  Paying rediculous amounts of money to over the hill and overrated players.  Unfortunatly, old habits die hard and the Yankees won't win again until George once again stays out of day to day baseball operations.

I think it's time the Yankees start rebuilding and dismantling their team. If you look at their off-season this year they haven't really done much. The Red Sox have made a few pretty good moves, but I am not convinced that they will do much more than make the play-offs. The Blue Jays have done a ton in the off-season and I expect them to make considerable strides toward the play-offs and beyond. The White Sox also have a good chance to repeat, but we are only approaching the new year and there are still a lot of things that can happen between now and spring training.

You're right BOOOOBmiester.  Unfortunately, Steinbrenner just doesn't have the patience to rebuild.

Too true.....I think a losing season or two may change his mind. Then again...it has been about 20 years since the Yanks have had a losing season...maybe it's time for Steinbrenner to sell or retire...or maybe make a change in GM....who knows...all I know is that this could be a good year for the rest of the AL.
