I know this is about an actor instead of an actress (that's why I'm putting under 'off-topic'), but I ran across it one day on a website and I can't figure it out:
"...I'm thinking of an aging male star, with a lot of movies and two long-running TV action shows to his credit.
He married two of Hollywood's most glamorous and sexy actresses, a brunette who died under bizarre circumstances and then a blonde bombshell, who even turned heads in Washington.
The guy was, and is, gay, living his public life as a primo hetero heartthrob for decades, hiding in plain sight..."
I have practically worn out IMDb.com, trying to figure out WHO THIS IS! Several people almost match, but the wives are never right, or they only had one hit show, etc. I can think, for example, of only one brunette actress who died a bizarre death, but her husband's other wife doesn't match.
I mentioned it to 2 of my friends who at first just rolled their eyes and said, "whatever", then an hour later said, "maybe it's... no, he doesn't fit...". Now they're cursing me because they can't figure it out either. I assume the fine people of ELMS are used to figuring out blind items, so... does anyone have any idea who this could be?

What about Robert Wagner? His first wife Natalie Wood died under bizarre circumstances and Jill St. John was his second wife. He was the star of Hart to Hart in the 80's and It Takes a Thief during the 60's.
I know, he was my first guess. But Jill St. John's a redhead and as far as I know doesn't have anything to do with Washington. The blind item calls the second wife a "blonde bombshell" who turned heads in Washington... which makes me think of Marilyn Monroe, but she never married an actor. I've also thought about:
Lee Majors (Six Million Dollar Man & Fall Guy, married to Farrah Faucett, but his other wives weren't actresses)
Robert Urich (Vegas$ & Spencer for Hire... but he's dead)
William Shatner (Star Trek & TJ Hooker, and one of his wives drowned... but none of them were actresses)
James Garner (Maverick & Rockford Files, but he's been married to one woman for decades), and even
David Hasselhoff (Knight Rider & Baywatch, but his wives aren't actresses either).
A lot of them kind of match, but no one's wives match up. I've been trying to think of every action show I can, and quite a few people had at least 2 shows. Even George Peppard had Banacek and the A Team, but he's dead.

David Hasselhoff???? Are you insane!? The mere mention of his name makes the hardest of men tremble with fear! The word heterosexual was invented in his honor! Blasphemer!!
Hey, after reading that Maureen O'Hara once caught John Ford kissing some guy I don't trust anyone! Seriously, I don't think ANY of those guys are, but he had 2 long running shows, and comes just about as close as anyone to fitting the blind item. His wives don't match, though, so he gets ruled out. I just have a feeling there's an obvious name I'm completely missing.

Can't help too much - but might I suggest that the prior website got it wrong? That one or both of the women, say the blond, wasn't a wife but just that the two were an "item"? Monroe was linked to any number of male leads - much like many modern actresses - without being an actual married couple. (The guy who springs to mind is.. shoot, what's his name from Gone With the Wind? With the mustache? Anyway - I know he did "Misfits" with Monroe and was gay, so perhaps...?)
Gable? I've heard that his breath was so bad it literally triggered the gag reflex in the women he had to kiss, but I've never heard a hint of him being gay. Ever. Cary Grant, on the other hand... maybe you're thinking of him?
As far as the blind item being incorrect (either accidentally or deliberately), if that's the case there's no good way to track who dated whom forty years ago, so for now I'm just sticking to what the BI lists. As for the wives, the possibilities I've thought of so far are:
Brunette who died under bizarre circumstances: Natalie Wood
Blonde bombshell who turned Washington heads: Marilyn Monroe, Bo Derek
Can anyone think of any other actresses who would fit?
