I don't know if anyone here is tech savvy, I use to be until I switched fields. I'm hoping someone can help.
On DA 2's web site, it shows that for the best performance a person should have this CPU:
Intel Core 2 Quad 2.4 GHz Processor or equivalent
While the minimum recommended CPU is this:
Intel Core 2 Duo (or equivalent) running at 1.8 GHz
However, I have this CPU:
Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 Wolfdale 3.0GHz.
My question is should I think about upgrading to a Quad core, even though my duo core is at 3.0GHz. Granted mine is only two core and not three, but even still it with the higher gigahertz might that not equal out at all?
I'd really like to have premium quality game time with DA 2, but I also need to watch the pennybag .
The demo comes out in a week. It should be pretty damned finished (visually) at that point. A Duo 3.0 is pretty danged good. I'm spoiled, I have a 2.8 i7 w/ 6 gigs of RAM, so it'll handle anything. But yet... I'll probably get this for my 360 and suffer the lesser graphics. I just like my couch (plus, I have a broken wrist atm and the 360 controller is not as bad on it, but now I'm rambling).
I'd say your Wolfdale is much closer to the 2.4 Quad than it is the 1.8Duo. That's a pretty danged minimal duo.
What's your vidcard? My honest guess is that at this point, the cpu won't make much of a difference, specially in a game like DA2. The vidcard, on the other hand...... (3 weeks my friend!)
My vid car is the Nvidia GeForce 9800 GTX+ with 512MB Ram. I've just noticed that having Windows XP I can't get the best graphics...seems I need Windows 7 if I want the better graphics...crud!
