This used to be the norm, but people were already married by this age. Now, the media is all up in arms. "OMG, how could she do this?" Jamie is an imperfect human being and "you-know-what" happens! Besides, who are they, the media, to judge anyone?

This used to be the norm because women didn't have the educational oppurtunities that they do today and had nothing to look forward but to raise a family. If you weren't married or had a family you were looked down on so best to make sure you had a husband and take one when you could even if it meant getting married young.
I do agree the media shouldn't be judging a 16 year old girl. I actually feel bad for her considering her age and her family life.
